Checked Friday morning, 14 August: 300 pounds from the UK to a Bangladesh bank account, sent through the apps with a fresh price this morning. Between the best regular price and the worst named one, the gap came to 931.64 taka. That is about £5.62.
The number to beat this week is Instarem’s. Wise is the safe default, and its rate is right at the real market rate. But on 300 pounds to Bangladesh, the £5.00 fee Wise charges is worth more than the small gap Instarem takes in the rate. On this morning’s numbers, Instarem delivers about 454 taka more than Wise for the same 300 pounds sent.
Here is what each one delivered.
| App | £300 arrives as | Visible fee | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instarem | BDT 49,324.97 | £0 | Best regular price this week. No visible fee, and the exchange rate is about 0.75 percent below the real market rate. That gap is worth about £2.26 on 300 pounds, still less than Wise’s £5.00 fee. |
| Wise | BDT 48,870.59 | £5.00 | The safe default. Rate right at the real market rate, visible fee, and the money arrives in about two days on this route. About 454 taka behind Instarem, or £2.74. |
| Xoom (PayPal) | BDT 48,393.33 | £2.99 | About 931 taka behind Instarem, or £5.62. The exchange rate takes about 1.65 percent quietly, worth about £4.89 on the money that gets converted. |
Rates checked Friday 14 August 2026, morning UK time. Wise’s number is from Wise’s live rate feed at around 05:05 UK time, alongside its own price comparison. Wise’s own row in the comparison was sampled at 05:05 UK time. Instarem was sampled at 04:22 UK time and Xoom at 02:38.
To sanity-check the exchange rate, we cross-referenced open.er-api.com, an independent source: it puts the rate at 165.75 taka to the pound, within 0.05 percent of Wise’s live rate. The rate matches.
Remitly is a special case this week. Its rate in the Wise price comparison this morning was 166.29 taka to the pound, sampled at 04:40 UK time. That number sits a fraction above the real market rate, which is the shape of an introductory offer rather than a plain regular price. Remitly is also running a first-transfer offer of 168.71 taka to the pound on the Bangladesh route, but only on the first 100 pounds you ever send with them. The two rates are handled in the recommendation below rather than in the headline table.
Western Union’s last sample in the comparison is from Monday 11 August at 19:20 UK time, close to two-and-a-half days old, so it is not in the table this week. Its quoted rate then was 165.50 taka to the pound, near the real market rate. LemFi, Taptap Send, Sendwave, WorldRemit, Skrill and Moneygram do not show a fresh price on this route in the comparison today.
What to actually open
If you already have Instarem installed, or you do not mind setting up a new app, use Instarem. On 300 pounds this week it delivered the most taka of any regular price, with no visible fee. That is about £2.74 worth of taka more than Wise, and about £5.62 more than Xoom.
If you want the safest, best-known option and you do not want to open a new app, use Wise. On 300 pounds this week Wise gave 454 taka less than Instarem. The fee is on the screen, the exchange rate is the real market rate, and the money arrives in about two days on this route. For a lot of senders that plainness is worth the £2.74.
If you are a new Remitly customer, the first-transfer offer is worth taking, but read the catch first. The promotional rate of 168.71 taka to the pound only applies to the first 100 pounds you ever send with them. That first 100 pounds delivers about 16,871 taka. The remaining 200 pounds of a 300 pound send converts at Remitly’s everyday rate, which sits in a band between 164.46 and 166.22 taka to the pound this week.
Add the two together and 300 pounds on your first-ever Remitly send lands somewhere between 49,760 and 50,110 taka. That is between about 440 and 790 taka more than Instarem this morning, or roughly £2.65 to £4.77 more. If you were going to open Remitly anyway, take the first-transfer offer. If you are only opening a new app for the send this week, Instarem is still a simpler answer with a clean everyday number.
Do not open Xoom for this send unless there is no other option. The visible £2.99 fee looks small. Once you add the fee and the gap to the real market rate, the full cost on 300 pounds this morning comes to about £7.88. That is £5.62 more than Instarem took on the same 300 pounds, on the same morning.
One thing the table cannot show
The table is for a bank-deposit send. It does not tell you how long the money takes to land.
Sending to a Bangladesh bank account is slower than sending to India or the Philippines. Wise’s own delivery estimate on this send is Sunday around midday UK time, close to two full working days from a Friday morning quote. Most of the other apps in the table clear in one to two working days for a bank deposit to Bangladesh, because the money still goes through the international bank network. If it needs to land the same day or the next day, check the delivery time inside the app for your specific bank in Bangladesh before you send. A small provider difference in fee is not worth a two-day wait if the money is needed sooner.
Bangladesh Bank reported that remittance inflows for the first nine days of August 2026 came to about 1.14 billion US dollars, up sharply on the same period last year. More money is moving into the country, and the providers are competing harder for it. On 300 pounds this week, that shows up as a tight table between the top and the bottom of the fresh regular prices, with a promotional offer or two around the edges.
Next Friday: another country, another number.
