What to actually open

The fee is on the screen at £5.96. On Ghana that fee is what puts Wise in second place today, not the rate. About £3.50 behind Instarem on 300 pounds is small money for a familiar app.
If you have neither of them, install Instarem. On this send size it is the clear pick on today’s numbers, and the app is straightforward to set up.
Do not open Western Union for a bank deposit send this small to Ghana. The £1.99 fee is not the problem. The rate is: about 3.7 percent below the real rate, which is where roughly £10 of the £10.67 gap sits. Western Union is a familiar name at the counter, but on Ghana at this send size the app costs you real money you do not have to spend.
Catches
A few caveats before you press send. The table above assumes a bank deposit into a Ghanaian cedi account. Wise and Instarem both send that way by default. Western Union also offers cash pickup at an agent and mobile money to MTN MoMo or Telecel Cash for Ghana, and the price on the screen changes with the option you pick, so it is worth checking the receiving screen inside the app before you send.
Timing matters more on Ghana than on most routes. A bank deposit usually lands the same working day on both Wise and Instarem for a payment funded from a UK bank early in the morning.
